AMBITIOUS, CAPABLE LEARNERS

IN KEY STAGE 3 WE WORK CLOSELY WITH OUR PEBBLES PHASE AND LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS TO ENSURE TRANSITION BETWEEN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION IS EXCITING AND SMOOTH FOR ALL PUPILS.

In year 9, our pupils will prepare for Key Stage 4 where they will have academic and vocational options leading to various qualifications to ensure they become ambitious capable learners.

PARENTS AND CARERS

Families are included as far as possible. Our Health and Wellbeing Team are always on hand to offer support. We hold annual review meetings and parent evenings throughout the year. To celebrate and share news we use Seesaw which allows information to be passed between home and school.

TEACHING & LEARNING

IN INNOVATE WE OFFER A BROAD AND BALANCED CURRICULUM FOLLOWING THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM FOR WALES.

In Key Stage 3 Innovate Phase Pupils are encouraged to improve their numeracy, literacy and ICT skills alongside the six areas of learning experiences:

  • Expressive Arts
  • Health and Well-being
  • Science and Technology
  • Humanities
  • Maths and Numeracy
  • Languages, Literacy and Communication

In Key Stage 4 Innovate Phase Pupils are provided with a broad and balanced range of academic and vocational experiences which promote independent learning.

PUPIL CENTERED APPROACHES

PUPILS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BECOME:

  • Ambitious Capable Learners
  • Enterprising Creative Contributors
  • Ethical Informed Citizens
  • Healthy Confident Individuals

Pupils are given the opportunity to meet with Careers Wales to discuss future pathways.

There is a wide range of qualifications the pupils can access including Entry Levels, Duke of Edinburgh, Sports Leaders and Agored Cymru.

We hope pupils remain at St Christopher’s and transition to our post 16 phases - Discovery and Stepping Stones.
