Vision
Ysgol St Christopher’s School is currently working towards implementing the new curriculum which comes into effect in September 2022 in our Primary phase. The curriculum has been reformed at a national level in order to support all our pupils whatever their needs and abilities.
At Ysgol St Christopher’s School, we have:
- Appointed a new curriculum lead to attend training and disseminate information to staff
- Have co-constructed our vision for the curriculum and developed our four purposes for each of the phases
- Developed a new approach to planning which focuses on developing pupils skills as well as knowledge and contents
Curriculum for Wales and our phase approach
Our pupils in Pebbles, Innovate and Discovery will follow the curriculum for Wales until the age of 16. As pupils move through the school, they will work on their vocational and external accreditation pathways.
What are the Four Purposes
The new curriculum for Wales has been developed to fulfill four key purposes and these underpin everything we do in school. We aim to support our pupils to be:
- Ambitious and capable learners
- Healthy and confident learners
- Enterprising and creative contributors
- Ethical and informed citizens
What will be taught?
The curriculum will be planned to meet individual pupils’ needs. Subjects will be grouped into six areas of learning. These are:
- Communication, literacy and literature
- Mathematics and numeracy
- Expressive Arts
- Health and wellbeing
- Humanities
- Science and Technology
